Ekovoices is a web based community of citizens who want to work towards a ‘Cleaner and Greener’ City. You can register on Ekovoices as a citizen and/or an expert.

Ekovoices utilizes a Googlemaps based engine where users can report location specific issues and initiatives. You can search for issues and initiatives across various themes and locations. You can form a network of likeminded people for action through discussion groups. Postings made on the maps can be fed into the discussion groups. Emails can be triggered to responsible individuals, experts or administrators to take appropriate action.

Create a Posting
‘Create a posting’ by adding a placemark on the map. The posting represents your concerns or the initiatives taken in your area / locality. You can also view what others have posted. This will help to understand the issues in other localities and initiatives taken by citizens to improve the quality of environment.

Join a discussion forum
You have the option of adding your posting to a discussion forum. This way you can initiate discussions on particular issue or you can participate in other discussion forums. You can also join discussion forums by simply signing up as a member or an expert.

Register as an Expert
You can register yourself as an expert for given categories. You can also participate in discussions as an expert. Other registered members may contact you for ‘expert opinion’.

Ekovoices has three main features, which are
‘Create a Posting’,
‘Discussion Groups’ and
‘Experts’.
To use any of these sections you require being a registered user. Sign up to become a registered user, its simple.

Creating a posting is very easy!

First login to your account. You will be directed to a Get Involved where you can start posting by simple clicking on ‘Start Now’ button. Once you click on the button,select a ‘Theme’ and ‘Parameter’ classify your posting as an ‘Issue’ or ‘Initiative’. Having done that, click on the icon for the selected issue or initiative.

Click on map, wherever you want to post your idea, the icon will be automatically placed on your selected location. After placing the icon on map, Add information box will pop up where you have to fill the information about the issue and simple submit all of this information.

Once you have posted an issue or initiative on map, it will be immediately added to the displayed map in the form of an icon. Every issue or icon is represented by a different icon. If you click on an icon detailed information will popup based on what each user has keyed in while posting.

Besides the map representation, the website also gives the statistical information on the postings in forms of graphs. Ekostats has been designed in order to know the statistics of the issues and concerns for each category and ward posted till date. This helps members to understand which ward or category is widely used for posting of Issues or Initiatives.
